One sunny afternoon in November 1998, I sat gazing at the shadows cast by the arch in downtown St. Louis. I realized how lucky we, the American People really are. As we grow up, we make many choices in life. I decided that my profession, would be the transportation industry.
In 1968, I started a small trucking company in the Granite City. IL area hauling building materials and steel. As I struggled to find new business, I was lucky to have became involved with National Steel Corporation in Granite City. The mill's Business grew over the years to the point that it could not service it's own shipping needs anymore. That is when I decided to sell my trucking company.
In March 2000 I sold my company to P.I.&I Motor Express Inc. At the time I had one full time dispatcher and one part time dispatcher in a one room office at the Gateway Truck Stop In East St. Louis IL.
Since that venture, P.I.&I. acquired a terminal in Granite City IL that we now call home. We have grown from my original 7 trucks and 15 owner operators over the years. Our terminal now has a fully equipped shop with three full-time employees. Our office staff has grown to include 2 full-time dispatchers and a full time safety and recruiting director.
We are located at Interstate 270 and route 3 south in Granite City, IL. If you are in the area, please take the time to stop and see me.
